With all the chaos of midterm elections upon us, you probably think there would be no connection between the states of Kansas and Florida. But one true freshman safety for the Miami Hurricanes Football program connects the two like peanut butter and jelly. While both states are probably voting red this midterm election, they will most definitely be rooting for this kid on the number 1 team in College Football.

JJ Dunnigan is a safety for the ‘Canes this season and he comes from Manhattan Kansas where he was a standout 4-star athlete for the Manhattan High School Indians. While at MHS he led them to their first state championship in program history in 2025.

Going into his senior year he was committed to the Kansas Jayhawks before reopening his recruitment during his standout senior year where he had 57 tackles with 25 of them being solo and 4 tackles for a loss. He was named Kansas 6A Defensive Player of the Year as a junior in 2024 which is what brought him to initially commit to Kansas.
